Collections: the progression ladder
Collections are the run ladder. Hitting the jackpot at the FINAL CHANCE unlocks the next collection; missing it ends the run and sends you back to the board.
Official key art - the JACKPOT card a run is chasing at the FINAL CHANCE.
Collections are the ladder in Plinky Plonky, and the FINAL CHANCE is the door. Reach the FINAL CHANCE and hit the jackpot and you unlock the next collection. Miss, and the run is over. That single sentence from the developer's own description is the whole risk model of the game.
The ladder as it stands
| Milestone | What we know from the game | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Collection 6 | Shipped with Update 2, alongside more rebirth tree nodes, an index and player profiles | Live in the current build |
| Unlocking the next collection | Hitting the jackpot at the FINAL CHANCE | Stated in the official description |
| Missing the FINAL CHANCE | The run ends | Stated in the official description |
| Highest collection | The game does not publish a hard ceiling | Take the in-game index as the source |
Two things are deliberately absent from that table: how many collections exist beyond the current build, and what each one requires in detail. The game keeps that inside its own index, and this site does not invent numbers the game has not published.
What the FINAL CHANCE asks of you
- Your best ball. The last drop decides whether the collection unlocks, so it should get the best luck in your pool.
- A board you understand. If you have been feeding a layout all run and never learned where its jackpot slot sits, the FINAL CHANCE will punish that.
- A run you can afford to lose. Everything the run paid out is already banked, so treat the FINAL CHANCE as a decision about the next collection, not about the current run.
Playing the ladder without wasting runs
- Push normally, but do not stall. Collections unlock on a jackpot, not on a coin total, so hoarding coins past the point where they convert into luck is a mistake.
- Rebirth between pushes. Because every run pays Rebirth Points, you can spend a weak cycle improving the tree and come back to the FINAL CHANCE stronger.
- Take the miss as data. A run that ends at the FINAL CHANCE tells you exactly what your pool lacked: luck (balls) or layout (board).
- Watch the index after an update. Update 2 added Collection 6 and an in-game index; when the game ships content, the index is where the new target appears.
Where collections sit in the loop
Collections are the scoreboard, Rebirth Points are the progression, coins are the fuel. If you want the mechanics underneath, the balls page explains what a jackpot actually requires and the rebirth page explains why a failed run still counts.
